Four Wheeled Brake Third Coach
With Birdcage Guards Lookout
PROTOTYPE. The North Eastern Railway built these coaches in the 1880s as diagram X for local passenger work. Just before the First World War many of these types of coaches were sold out of service to independent light railways and collieries for use as Paddy Trains transporting miners to the pithead.
This kit represents one of the three carriages sold by the NER to the North Sunderland Light Railway. For a period these three vehicles represented the railways entire coaching stock.
While of interest to NER modellers these kits are mainly aimed at industrial and light railway enthusiasts, to provide quickly and easily some unusual coaching stock so beloved by such lines!.
